For some individuals, getting treatment in the dental office may bring on feelings of anxiety. One solution is something called nitrous oxide, or more commonly referred to as “laughing gas.” The combination of inhaled nitrous oxide and oxygen is a safe and effective means of managing pain and anxiety in dentistry. The patient is fully awake and able to communicate their needs while feeling more relaxed. The effects only last for about 3-5 minutes after the nasal mask is removed, so you can safely drive yourself home after the procedure. If this is something that may interest you, we would be happy to discuss at your next dental visit.
